This post is partly a nature related one and mostly about a road trip. Intriguing? Read on.
We have owned an EV (Electric vehicle) since 2008. Starting with REVAi. Then E2o which became Mahindra E2o. Sold it after the model got discontinued and chose Tata Tiago which our commute car now. Our electric car is local travel and we have rarely ventured out of Bangalore in all these years. So, when a friend offered us to join on a road trip to Goa in his new MG ZS EV, we jumped on it curious to see how it will work. Our friend being the organized planner that he is, we could take a back seat and just enjoy the ride without any range anxiety which worked perfectly.
An yes, nature related because, we would stop for one night at Sharavathi Jungle Lodges on way out and Bhadra River Tern resort on way back, with 3 nights in Varca, Goa.
Our EV road trip got under way when we were picked up at Yeshwantpur Metro Station. First stop was Sharavathi Jungle Lodges about 400+ kms away. So, at least one recharge was needed on way. To be safe, he had targeted 3 charging stations. Sira, Hiriyur and Shivamogga? though technically only one is sufficient. But given the unreliability of car charging infrastructure, this was planned redundancy. Zeon charging station at Sira, next to Paakshala restaurant worked out perfectly for our first stop. Then a stop on way near Hiriyur. Lunch stop at Shivamogga as the car was charged.
Sharavati, boating and falls watch. no charging here. tried some jugaad.. but it failed overnight.
Onto goa... stop at Honnavar at Sagar residency for charging.
Reached goa late evening after stop for lunch in karwar.
Goa... beach walk. martins corner. morning birding at beach. every day overnight slow charging.
left early morning to reach bhadra by 2pm. charged at honnavara... same place..and had breakfast.
reached in time for evening boat safari. they had charging for overnight to full.
stopped for final recharge at Sira... paakshala.
